The role of the Pastoral Council is to assist and advise the pastor in regard to all aspects of parish life. More specifically, it provides oversight and an overview of the various ministries and activities of the parish, oversees the on-going strategic planning processes of the parish and its various constituent elements, coordinates various parish committees and organizations so that they all work together for the general parish goals and objectives, ensures that the agreed upon processes and consultations are carried out by committees, makes appropriate policy recommendations to the pastor, ensures that the necessary funding is available to achieve the parish‘s objectives, identifies parishioners and provides training for leadership positions in the parish. Membership consists of the pastor, pastoral associates, deacons and a number appointed by the pastor to achieve balance and diversity to reflect the parish. The Pastoral Council reflects the social and ethnic mix of the parish. Representatives of various parish organizations are invited on a regular basis to report on their activities. The Council meets four times a year. Finance Council The role of the Finance Council is to advise and assist the Pastor in the financial administration of the parish. The Finance Council consults with the Pastor on major financial decisions, budget development and major maintenance schedule. More specifically, the Council assists in developing the annual budgets for parish and cemetery and monitoring these during the course of the year, in providing financial reports to the parish and in making recommendations regarding the parish reserves and regarding all other issues of a financial matter. Membership consists of eight members elected by the pastor. |
